How to Write with a Glass Dip Pen
Its also known as Venezianische Glasfeder, it is based on the principle of capillary action to store ink in several grooves on the pen tip. These grooves can also guide the ink to the nib to form a special ink supply device.
When writing, the amount of ink and the thickness of handwriting lines are determined by the depth, width and writing angle of the ink storage groove on the pen tip.
The ink storage tank is mainly made of straight and spiral patterns. In addition to visual aesthetics, the change of the pattern can also provide more ink storage space.
Dip your glass pencil about halfway through the tip of the pen, then rub it gently along the rib of your inkwell to remove any excess ink. To start writing, use a light amount of pressure (as compared to the steel nib pens), then vary that pressure to see what works best for you - simply do not apply excessive pressure as you write or the glass pencil might break. Try writing at an angle instead of vertically. Clean your pen regularly as you write by dipping it in water every 4-5 minutes and then wiping it off with a cotton cloth.
